Comparison
sharehtml.org vs Netlify Drop
Verdict: Netlify Drop is the right tool for a folder you will claim with an account. For one file you want to send without signing up, its anonymous window no longer works.
Per Netlify's docs, an anonymous drop is "a temporary project with a live URL that you can claim within one hour". After a 2024 fraud wave Netlify stopped making anonymous drops public until someone claims them. Netlify counted about 14 million unclaimed drops by early 2025. I run sharehtml.org; checked 2026-09-03.

| Free size | 5 MB per file | about 50 MB recommended |
| Folders and frameworks | no | yes, with a build for logged-in drops |
| Custom domain | no (custom slug on Pro) | free on all plans |
| Password pages | Pro, $5/mo | paid |
| Paid from | $5/mo or $40/yr | $9/mo Personal; free plan is 300 credits/month |
Where Netlify Drop is better
- Whole folders, framework detection and a build step. We serve one file.
- Free custom domains on every plan. We do not offer custom domains.
- Larger uploads: staff recommend staying under 50 MB. Our free cap is 5 MB, Pro 25 MB.
- A full platform behind it: forms, functions, redirects.
Where sharehtml.org is better
- No claim deadline. The link works for anyone the moment you upload, and keeps working.
- No account, ever, if you do not want one. Netlify caps anonymous sites at 3 per IP and hides them.
- Own origin per page rather than a shared *.netlify.app host.
- No credit meter. Netlify's free plan pauses sites at 300 credits; bandwidth costs 20 credits per GB.
